Earlier this year SurgEase Innovations Ltd committed to sponsoring the Europaths Football club, a youth development club here in Maidenhead, a short walk from our office.We funded kits, training equipment, tournament costs, and the club's international tour. Our name may be on the new kits, but this isn't why we chose to do it.SurgEase exists to improve the lives of people afflicted with or at risk of serious disease, whilst also aiming to strengthen the healthcare systems it supplies, with high-impact, low cost technologies that can be delivered in the community. Despite achieving this vision in the NHS and internationally over the years, it would be strange for a company that argued for community-based healthcare to ignore the needs of its community outside its own front door.Youth sport does something the NHS desperately needs and cannot buy. It builds physical health before ill health arrives, and it gives young people structure, discipline, mentorship and somewhere to belong. These values sit close to what SurgEase has believed in since it started: that health is built in communities rather than delivered to them, that ambition should be positioned in front of people a system could overlook, and that most will rise to the standards that are set, particularly if the conditions around them are optimised. This investment is one way of acting on that belief rather than stating it. We wish the boys great success in the current and future seasons.
